New windshield wiper blades
Optional: screwdriver
Soft cloth or paper towel

Steps

Step 1: Purchase the Correct Wiper Blades

  • Check your car’s manual or measure your existing blades.

  • Wipers are usually sold in sizes ranging from 12–28 inches.

  • Buy blades from a trusted brand (e.g., Bosch, Rain-X, Michelin).

Step 2: Lift the Wiper Arm

  • Pull the wiper arm away from the windshield until it stands perpendicular to the glass.

  • Be careful not to let it snap back—it could crack the windshield.

Step 3: Remove the Old Wiper Blade

Most blades attach via one of these mechanisms:

  • Hook: Press the small tab and slide the blade downward to unhook.

  • Pin: Press the release button and slide the blade out.

  • Side-Lock / Bayonet: Press tab or button and slide blade sideways.

    • Gently remove the old blade.
    • Dispose of it properly.

Step 4: Attach the New Wiper Blade

  • Align the new blade with the arm’s hook or attachment.

  • Slide it in until it clicks or locks into place.

  • Ensure the blade is securely attached by giving it a gentle tug.

Step 5: Lower the Wiper Arm Carefully

  • Slowly lower the arm back onto the windshield.

  • Repeat the process for the other side.

Step 6: Test the New Wipers

  • Turn on your car’s wipers to ensure smooth operation.

  • Check for streaks, skipping, or noise—adjust if necessary.
